民間故事
The Kai Chi Ma(開基媽)of Lung-Shan Temple

Lung Shan Temple was located nearby the bank of the Feng Shan Creek. There was a huge plantation in the neighborhood of the temple. Amid the plantation was a well and people used to make use of the spring water to cultivate the plants and crops.

One day, a man passing by the neighborhood rushed into the bush to relieve himself. He was in such a hurry that he left his amulet behind after he finished his business. A few days later, a strange phenomenon appeared whenever it rained. According to the rumor, people could find a lump flickering beside the old well.

Being Curious and awed by the incredible sight, people searched high and low for the cause of such a mysterious but non-existent lamp. Finally, they found the man’s amulet and came to the realization that the magic power came from Kai-Chi-Ma ( the Bodhisattva) (觀世音菩薩). In order to show their religiosity and respect to the Bodhisattva, people built a temple beside the well. Crowds of religious residents came from faraway places to pay their respect and request for the protection and blessings of the Bodhisattva.
