Feng-Yi Academy of Classical Learning
 
　　An academy of classical learning is a place where the civilian promotes the study climate, hold the school children examinations, and nurtures the talents. Feng-Yi Academy was built by Chang,Ting-Chin（張廷欽）, the candidate lecture for excellent students（歲貢生）, and the local gentlemen. They invited the teachers, recruited the students to attend the school to win the scholarly honor, glorify their families. The study in the academy is the way to promote official career.
 

　　As the time went by, public schools replaced classical academies in Japanese colonial times. Then Feng-Yi Academy became a dormitory for staff of Fengshan police office. Residents in there were more complicated after Taiwan was restored. It is like a compound living place occupied by many households now. The illegal people occupied vestibules,rooms,corridors and built their houses in the empty places added the brick wall to remodel the original houses and put lots of odds and end everywhere. Visitors should detour when they visited.
 
　　Nevertheless we still can explore purposes of the academy from couplets on doors “Teng-Yun-Lu”, ”Pu-Tien-Chu”, ”Shuo-Li-Yueh”, ”Tun-Shih-Shu”, ”Tao -Ching”, “Yang-Hsing”, first is vestibule ,second is classroom, third is lobby and left, right wing-rooms...through the explanation of history experts.
 

　　The gateposts, pearls on the gatepost, the main beam, the arch, doors, windows, sealing board, beams, ridge and brick walls, stone walls have decayed because of their age. Despite of their spots, we could still see the remaining objects. It provides students with live materials for local history class toward further study of Ching Dynasty.
