the all-year-round begonia
|
|
|
Begonias, in spite of varying in species, may be easily cultivated.
The begonia in Fenghsan that blooms all year round is native to Brazil.
It may grow to the height up to twenty centimeters. As the begonia
is easily grown, it can be seeded or simply grown with a split branch.
Concerning to its habitat, it can be seen in places like yards or
parks. Therefore, once it was made part of the horticulture in Taiwan,
Fenghsan adopted it as its city blossom, symbolic of prosperity.

Compared to those of other begonias, the leaves of this begonia
with irregular edges are sort of round though smaller and shorter.
On the other hand, like its petals, their colors may vary from one
species to another. The leaves, waxy and bright, may come in red,
green, dark green and so on. As to the blossoms, each stem can yield
up to twenty, with a mixture of such colors as white and red. When
in full bloom, especially after the rain, they really look tempting
and fascinating, with the raindrops on them.
