Situated in the subtropical zone, Fenghsan's annual rainfall
is approximately 2,000 dg, centering in the seasons of summer and
fall (from May to September). It's dry in winter and spring. Years
in, years out, July, August and September seem to be typhoons' favorite
months, when there are violent storms and heavy rain, which inevitably
lead to serious damage or catastrophes. In the past few years, as
has been influenced by the global greenhouse effect and El Nino Event,
the yearly average rainfalls have varied. |

According to
the rainfall statistic data released by the Central Weather Bureau
in Fenghsan Tropical Horticulture Experimental Farm, in the years
between 1994 and 2003, the monthly average temperature even dropped
to zero in the Decembers of 1995 and 1996 and in the Januaries of
1996 and 1999. As can be seen, the instability of both the temperature
and rainfall has made prediction petty difficult. |
