In 1991, a tree in Tsao-Kung Elementary School, which is across
Tsao-Kung Temple was officially called as “Tsao-Kung Giant Tree”,
brings out the best in each other. The times of Japanese occupation,
the government demolished the Fengshan county government and rectified
it as the “Fengshan Ordinary High-Grade Elementary School”, set up
by Japanese. Many Japanese who graduated from this school still cherish
the memory of the school tree in the schoolyard and they often organized
group to visit the schoolyard to recall their childhood. |

The elementary school was bombed by allied forces at World War II.
After Taiwan restoration, it temporary became Fengshan Elementary
School’s building, when the “Fengshan Elementary School” moved out;
they commemorate the contribution of the Tsao Chin County magistrate,
so it is called “Tsang-Kung Elementary School”. |

During the rule of Japanese, Governor Erh Yu found Tsao-Kung Temple
collapsing when he was patrolling Fengshan in 1900’s. So it was announced
that the ground belong to public spaces, and it would be used for
the reconstruction. People were asked to offer the money to rebuild
the temple. And all of the government staffs should be asked to participate
in the rebuilding of the temple. In the following year, the new viceroy
had presented a piece of wooden horizontal board which now is preserved
in the temple to keep all the bad spirits away. |
In Tsao-Kung Elementary School there are some Bischoffia javanica
trees planted right in front of the square. One of them is still standing
strongly while it witnessed all the sadness and happiness in the past
two hundred years.

The ex-principle
of the elementary school thinks that the tree has become a very valuable
keepsake. Also Tsao-Kung has lived in here for a period of time. So
