Feng-Yi Yu-Huang Temple(鳳邑玉皇宮), people used to call Tien-Kung
Temple, which is located on No.151 Kuang Ming Road Fengshan City(鳳山市光明路一五一號).
It is next to the Second Market(第二市場). It was built in 1796 D.C.
Among the old temples of Fengshan, the Tien-Kung Temple is not the
oldest one but the most popular one. The local residents claimed that
when on the Great God’s birthday(天公生), the offering money(香火)
is more than that in other temples, even on ordinary days , the temple
is crowded with many people coming to worship their god. |

The Tien-Kung Temple is located at the center of Fengshan City’s
downtown. The Tien-Kung Temple’s history is shorter than Shuan-Tsung
Ting Temple(雙慈亭), Lungshan Temple(龍山寺), Cheng-Huang Temple(城隍廟)
and Kai-Chang Sheng-Wang Temple(開漳聖王廟). The area of Tien-Kung
Temple is not large, and it was not popular in early times. So it
was not included in the Four Largest Temples(四大廟) of Fengshan City.
In ceremony of the parades of god(神明遶境), the Four Largest Temples
are the places for the ordinary believers to worship. |

The Tien-Kung Temple worships the Great God(玉皇大帝). On the
Great God’s birthday, tens of thousands of believers come to pay
their congratulations to the Great God. The prosperous condition has
much to do with the change of gates. The main gate was located in
the east, facing west. To mix with the geography and environment in
1948 D.C., the manager of the temple invited some experts to give
some advice. Finally they decided to make some changes. The main gate
faced Kuangming Road(光明路), so the temple was located in the west,
facing east. Its excellence are as followings: The Ta-Wu Mountain(大武山)
which in Pingtung(屏東) is in front of it and the Shou Mountain(壽山)
is behind it. The Chishan(旗山) area is on its left side. The hill
located on Fengshan and Linyuan(林園) is on its right side. The Kao-Ping
Stream(高屏溪) is far away, but the Fengshan Stream(鳳山溪) is near
it |

After the remodeling, the temple itself and the conditions of
the temple are as usual. The latest reconstruction is finished in1975
D.C. Tien-Kung Temple is the foundation of faith of believers in Fengshan
area. |
